ABOUT Sindhi Mutton (Teevan) RECIPE

Sindhi style mutton curry is also known as Teevan. Its flavourful and mildly spiced. The best ever meat dish to please your guests.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 kg lamb mutton cut into pieces
  2. Curd 1/2 cup
  3. turmeric powder 2tbsp
  4. Dhania powder 2 tbsp
  5. 1 tsp garam masala
  6. Salt 1 spoon
  7. Juice of 1 lemon
  8. 2-3 pcs of bay leaf,
  9. whole black cardamom, 1
  10. Cinnamon sticks 2
  11. Cloves 6
  12. Green cardamom 6
  13. 2 tbsp garlic ginger paste
  14. 4 green chillies
  15. 4 large onions finely chopped
  16. 4 tomatoes grated
  17. 1 potato cubed (optional)
  18. 4 tbsp oil
  19. sufficient water to cook the Mutton
  20. finely chopped Coriander leaves to garnish

Instructions

  1. Clean and wash the mutton pieces
  2. Marinade it with curds, 1 tsp each of red chill powder, salt, dhaniya powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder and lemon juice.
  3. Keep it covered for 1hour to marinade
  4. In a cooker, heat oil.
  5. Add cumin seeds, cloves, cinnamon, cardamoms and bay leaves.
  6. Saute nicely and add chopped onions
  7. Fry the onions, add chopped green chillies nd ginger-garlic paste
  8. Saute till onions have browned lightly
  9. Now add 1 tsp each of turmeric, dhaniya powder, red chilli powder and salt.
  10. Add the mutton pieces, potato cubes and bhuno it
  11. Cook on a low flame till the water from the mutton dries up.
  12. By the time all the spices must have coated well with mutton pieces
  13. Now add grated tomatoes
  14. Again Bhuno it nicely till oil separates from mutton
  15. Add sufficient water in the cooker and cook on a high flame first up to 2 whistles.
  16. Now lower the flame and let it cook for another 15 minutes on slow flame
  17. Cook till the mutton pieces are tender.
  18. Transfer into serving bowl nd garnish with coriander leaves.
  19. Serve hot with zeera rice, rotis and onion slices.

Your recipe is Awosme! Generally,I don't eat mutton . But when made as per your recipes, the smell tempted me to taste it. And took me back in my childhood . I just loved it
