ABOUT Spicy rava fish fry RECIPE

Fried fish fillets that are soft, spicy and flavourful inside and crisp outside.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Kingfish fillets(surmai)-500gms
  2. Fresh coriander- a handful
  3. lemon juice- 2 tbsp
  4. Ginger- garlic paste- 1 tsp
  5. Turmeric- 1 tsp
  6. Rava (Semolina/sooji)- 2 cups
  7. Green chillies- 2(chopped fine)
  8. salt to taste
  9. mustard oil for deep frying


  1. Combine the coriander, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric and lemon juice in a blender and blitz to a fine paste. Add green chilli and salt to this.
  2. Wash fish fillets well and pat dry, rub the above paste well into each fillet and let marinate for about half an hour.
  3. Spread rava out onto a large plate, add salt sparingly to it.Coat each fish fillet well with the rava and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil to moderately hot, slide in the fish on medium heat, a few at a time.Fry till golden.
  5. Serve with lemon wedges and mint chutney.
