About Aloo Puri Recipe

A simple taste of the aloo sabji with hot puri can put a smile on your face.

Aloo Puri

Ingredients to make Aloo Puri

  • 4 potatoes chopped
  • 2 tomatoes chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 green chillies sliced
  • 1 tsp garlic and Ginger chopped
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 Cups water
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 sp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp ajwain
  • 1 tsp mango powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • A pinch of asafortida
  • salt
  • For Puri:
  • 2 1/2 cup Whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp oil
  • water as needed
  • oil to fry

How to make Aloo Puri

  1. Heat oil in a kadai, fry ajwain then add onion, cook till onions are soft.
  2. Add garlic and ginger, green chillies and fry for 1 minute.
  3. Add the tomatoes and stir fry till they become soft.
  4. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, asafoetida, mango powder, garam masala and salt, mix well.
  5. Add in the potatoes and mix well. Pour in the water. Cover and cook until potatoes are done
  6. Mix the flour and oil to form a dough and knead well. Make small ball and roll out into puris.
  7. Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Fry the puris till golden brown. Drain over paper towels.
  8. Serve the hot puris with the aloo sabji.
