Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup Chana Daal
  2. 1 cup powdered jaggery 
  3. 1 cup whole wheat flour
  4. 1/2 cup Maida
  5. 1 tspn nutmeg powder
  6. 1 tspn cardamom powder
  7. 1 Cup water
  8. 1 tbspn oil
  9. 2 tbspn ghee
  10. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak chana dal in water for 4 hours and pressure cook upto 4 whistles. Mash and keep aside.
  2. Add the daal to a non stick pan. Add jaggery in to it, mix well and cook till mixture becomes thick and starts to leave sides of pan.
  3. Add cardamom powder and nutmeg. Mix well. Now the Puran (stuffing) is ready.
  4. Combine wheat flour and maida with a tbspn of oil and knead a soft dough by adding water gradually. Cover the dough and let it rest for an hour.
  5. Take small ball from dough and roll like puri.Take small ball from the Puran and stuff it into rolled puri. Seal the edges and roll in circular motion like paratha.
  6. Heat up pan on a medium heat and roast puranpoli from both the sides till it gets nice golden spots.(you may use some oil if desired)
  7. Once Puran poli is about to done, apply ghee on it and serve hot with a dollop of ghee on top(which makes it tasty, but it's optional)
