Cakes are something we all crave for and this wheatless cake is a must try. This again was an experiment that turned out successfully delicious and my son finished in a go.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. kuttu / Buckwheat flour - 1/2 Cup
  2. Bajra / Pearl millet flour - 1/2 Cup
  3. Sugar - 1/2 cup
  4. Cocoa Powder - 1 tablespoon
  5. Refined oil - 1 tsp
  6. Baking Soda -1/2 teaspoon
  7. Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  8. Hot milk - 1/2 cup
  9. Vanilla Essence - 1/2 tsp
  10. For icing --
  11. Chocolate syrup - around 1/4th cup
  12. Strawberry syrup -around 1/4th cup
  13. Sprinklers - 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven on 180 degrees
  2. Grease and dust a jelly mould or mini cake tin
  3. In a bowl sieve together buckwheat flour, pearl millet flour, baking soda, baking powder and cocoa powder and keep aside
  4. In another bowl take hot milk and sugar and mix very well with the help of wire whisk
  5. Now add oil and vanilla essence to milk and sugar mixture and mix well
  6. Now add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients slowly in batches with the help of a spatula till everything is mixed properly
  7. Pour in the prepared mould or tin and bake at 180 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or till toothpick inserted comes out clean
  8. Take out the cake from oven and let it cool in the tin for a while
  9. Loosen the cake with a knife from the sides and demould on a wire rack
  10. Let it cool completely
  11. Now place the cake in the center of a plate and pour the syrups alternatively and randomly over the cake and decorate with sprinkles as shown in the picture
  12. Enjoy
