ABOUT Capsi Onion Fritters... RECIPE

These are yummy fritters that can be enjoyed at tea-time and also for brunch. Made with gram flour and thinly sliced capsicums and onions with some Indian spices, these are a not only a visual treat but also a treat to the tastebuds.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Gram flour 1 cup
  2. capsicum thinly sliced medium 3
  3. onions thinly sliced medium 2
  4. asafoetida 2 pinches
  5. Baking soda 1 pinch
  6. salt to taste
  7. cumin powder 1 tsp
  8. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  9. turmeric 1/2 tsp
  10. ginger grated 1 tsp
  11. coriander leaves finely chopped a handful
  12. water just a little about 2 to 3 tbsp


  1. Get the thinly sliced capsicum and onions in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add all the spices to it.
  3. Followed by the gram flour now.
  4. Make a thick batter using as little water as required. Do not add much water as onions are been added in it.
  5. Add chopped coriander leaves also and mix well.
  6. Keep aside for 15 minutes until the oil gets heated up.
  7. Deep fry few at a time in batches so that they get cooked evenly.
  8. Deep fry on medium flame by turning every now and then to ensure proper cooking and also to get a nice golden colour.
  9. Serve them hot with any sauce of your liking.
