Uppudu pindi is traditional south indian upma which is prepared regularly for breakfast.It goes well with some pickle and yoghurt

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. - Two cups rice flour
  2. - Two cups water
  3. - Three sliced onions(cut them thin and long)
  4. - Two to three dry red chillies
  5. - Few curry leaves
  6. -Half teaspoon cumin and mustard seeds
  7. -Half teaspoon split black gram(urad dal)
  8. - 2 Teaspoon bengal gram(chana dal)
  9. - salt as per taste
  10. - Any cooking oil


  1. -To begin the procedure of uppudu pindi,First take a vessel and add little oil in it. - When oil is heated add cumin,mustard seeds and when they crackle add split black gram,3 teaspoon split bengal gram and saute for few minutes
  2. - Next add few curry leaves ,dry red chillies and sliced onions and saute till onions are little cooked
  3. - Once onions are cooked add water and salt as per taste.
  4. -For 2 cups rice flour 2 cups of water should be added.We must take both equal quantity
  5. - When water starts boiling add 2 cups rice flour.Initially after adding rice flour dont mix it. Add the flour and cover for 2 minutes
  6. -After 2 minutes remove the lid and now mix the flour with water.Flour absorbs the entire water.Cover the lid and cook on medium flame for some time
  7. - When it is cooked completely you can see upma as crumbled texture.Switch off the stove
  8. - Serve uppudu pindi with pickle and yoghurt
