ABOUT Kodo Millet Appam !!!! RECIPE

This was an experiment I tried in my kitchen ..... which turned out to be a HIT... :heart_eyes:.....according to my family...This is very much similar to the Dosa .... I wanted to make it in an Appam Pan. Here it is...Tadaaa:grinning::grinning:....Sharing the recipe with u all....:relaxed:

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Kodo Millet - 1 big cup/glass ( same cup/glass to be used for all the remaining ingredients )
  2. Urad dal - 1/4th cup
  3. Methi seeds - 1tspn
  4. Grated coconut - half cup (optional )
  5. Red Rice Poha - 2 handfuls ( washed and soaked in water for about half an hour before grinding the millet)
  6. Water- for grinding
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Oil - 1 tspn ( optional )

Instructions

  1. Take a big vessel and add the kodo millet , urad dal & methi seeds in it....
  2. Wash them & soak it for about 5 to 6 hours...
  3. In the meantime....soak the poha also for about half an hour.... When soaked, take a mixer & grind all the ingredients to a smooth fine paste
  4. Then add salt & keep it for fermentation for atleast 7 to 8 hours....
  5. After it is fermented well take a non stick Appachatti or Appam pan and heat it
  6. Mix the batter well...as it gets hot pour 1 laddle of the batter & spread it slowly by rotating the appam pan in circular motion.... with the 2 handles provided in the Appam pan...
  7. Cover the Appam with the lid & let it cook on low to medium flame till done ...
  8. Once it gets the brown colour remove it carefully with the help of a wooden spatula...
  9. Here's how it will look like... The kodo millet Appams just removed from the Appam pan
  10. Serve hot with Veg stew or any curry or chutney ....

  12. Please note- *I have not used grated coconut here...It can be ground if you like according to your famliy taste....:relaxed:
