ABOUT Rice Dumpling ( Chinese flavoured ) RECIPE

It is stuffed rice dumpling and a fusion recipe. I am a Maharashtrian and make 'Ukadi che modak' to offer naivaidya to lord Ganesha. I have created a different version of that with sautéed veggies(Chinese flavoured ).

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. For outer covering Rice flour 1 medium cup
  2. Water 1 & 1/4 medium cup
  3. Oil 1 teaspoon
  4. salt 1/6 teaspoon
  5. For stuffing
  6. Cabbage 3 tablespoonful
  7. Carrot grated 1 tablespoonful
  8. Corn kernels 1 tablespoonful
  9. Capsicum finely chopped 1 teaspoonful
  10. Garlic cloves 2-3 (finely chopped)
  11. Pepper powder 1/6 teaspoon
  12. Oil 2 teaspoon
  13. Soy sauce 2 teaspoon
  14. For dressing
  15. Butter 2 tablespoon
  16. Chopped garlic 1 teaspoon
  17. Chopped coriander leaves 1 teaspoon .


  1. For outer covering
  2. Boil water in a wok. Add salt and oil in it. Add rice flour to the boiling water with continuous stirring .
  3. Cook covered for a minute or two on low heat. remove from heat and let it cool.
  4. Meanwhile make stuffing. for that heat oil in a pan, add chopped garlic and all veggies .
  5. sauté and add soy sauce , pepper powder and two three pinches of salt (soy sauce contain salt).
  6. Stir , mix all the ingredients well and transfer in to a plate to cool.
  7. Mash and knead steamed rice flour to a soft dough.
  8. Take a small amount of dough in a wet hand flatten and make a disc shape. Place 3/4 to 1 teaspoon of the filling in it,
  9. Then close the flattened disc carefully and give a round ball structure .
  10. Keep the ball on a lightly oiled plate. Repeat the process with remaining dough and filling.
  11. Now ready the steamer for cooking these balls. Before placing the balls place banana leaf/ butter paper in steamer plate grease it with oil.
  12. Steam them for 10 minutes.
  13. Meanwhile prepare dressing Heat butter in a pan add chopped garlic and coriander leaves. .
  14. Transfer it to a bowl
  15. Now carefully remove dumplings (Steamed balls) from steamer transfer these dumplings to serving plate drizzle/brush each dumpling with dessing and serve immediately .
