Kashmiri dum aaloo is very spicy and tasty curry which goes very well with roti ,paratha, rice etc.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For cooking potato
  2. 500 grams medium size or small potato
  3. 5 cups water
  4. 1/2teaspoon water
  5. For dum allo gravy
  6. 3 teaspoon kashmiri red chilli powder
  7. 1teaspoon ginger powder
  8. 1 teaspoin caraway powder
  9. 1teaspoon fennel powder
  10. 1/2teaspoon cinnamon powder
  11. 3 cloves
  12. 5 black pepper
  13. 1 green cardmom
  14. 1cup curd
  15. Puree of 3 tomatoes
  16. 1cup masturd oil tofry potato
  17. 2 table spoon masturd oil to fry masala
  18. Salt as required


  1. Rinse potato well.and half boil in salty water.
  2. Drain them and cool down and peel them too.
  3. With a fork poke holi in potato all over .
  4. Heat masturd oil in a pan and add preboiled and peeled potato.and fry them golden.place them in kitchen towel to absorb extra oil .
  5. Take 2 table spoon oil in another pan ,heat it.add asafetida red chilli powder beaten curd in it .
  6. Add some water with curd stir well.
  7. Now add fennel powder all spices and ginger powder .Stir continuesly.add tomato puree and cook for 5 minutes.
  8. Now add potato, stirr well.add salt and sir well.
  9. Cover the pan and cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
  10. Cook till thicken the gravy .
  11. Now garnish with masoori methi aur corriander leaves.
