Ingredients to make Urad dal vadas

  • urad dal 1.5 cup
  • rice 1 cup
  • salt 1tsp
  • baking soda 1tsp
  • semolina half cup
  • curry leaves
  • onion chopped half cup
  • Chillies 3 to 4

How to make Urad dal vadas

  1. Soak the urad dal and rice overnight. Grind it to a smooth paste. Allow it to ferment for 3 to 4 hrs.
  2. Next prepare the batter by adding all the ingredients thoroughly. Whisk it thoroughly.
  3. Now heat oil in a pan. Deep fry them in the shape of vadas on low flame. In the centre make a hole to form a medu which is optional.
  4. Crispy vadas are ready to be served with sambhar or ketchup.

My Tip:

Soak the urad dal for 10 to 12 hrs.
