Ingredients to make Aloo Peas masala(South Indian style)

  • potato 6 medium size
  • onion sliced 2
  • Green chilli 1 (optional)
  • peas handful
  • curry leaves
  • coriander leaves
  • turmeric
  • Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • salt
  • For seasoning oil
  • mustard
  • Split urad dal

How to make Aloo Peas masala(South Indian style)

  1. Pressure cook 6 medium sized Potato cut in to cubes
  2. Heat Oil. Add Mustard. When it cracks Add Urad dal.
  3. When the colour of Urad dal changes to golden brown. Add sliced onion and one Green chilli( optional). Saute
  4. Add fresh Green Peas (handful), curry and Coriander leaves. Saute
  5. Add Salt, Turmeric and Red chilli powder.
  6. Mix well. Cook masala for 3 mins
  7. Completely strain water from boiled potatoes. Add to masala. Gently toss potatoes with masala
  8. Serve with Variety rice

My Tip:

You can also add sambar powder instead of red chilli powder. Or 1/2 red chilli powder and 1/2 sambar powder.
