Saffron Masala Buns

Ingredients to make Saffron Masala Buns

  • saffron strands 1/4 Tsp
  • Active dry yeast 2Tsp
  • honey 2Tsp
  • Whole wheat flour 1 1/2 cup
  • all purpose flour 1/2 cup
  • salt 1/2 Tsp
  • Milk powder 2Tsp
  • Hot milk 2Tbsp
  • butter 2Tbsp
  • oil To greased the pan 1Tsp
  • coriander seeds 1Tsp
  • cumin seeds 1Tsp
  • red chilli flakes 1Tsp
  • Milk 1Tbsp
  • water 1 cup

How to make Saffron Masala Buns

  1. Add yeast and sugar in a Luke warm water and set aside for 10 minutes atleast.
  2. Sift flour in a bowl ,add Salt,sugar ,Milk powder and mix well.
  3. Mix saffron threads in a hot milk and let it rest for few minutes.
  4. Add saffron milk and yeast mixture to the flour and knead using sufficient water.
  5. Add butter and knead into a soft dough.
  6. Cover with a wet muslin cloth and set aside for 10 -15 minutes.
  7. Dry roast coriander and cumin seeds in a pan.
  8. Cool and grind the seeds into coarse powder with red chilli flakes.
  9. Dust some flour on a kitchen counter.
  10. Remove the dough from the bowl and place it on the counter.
  11. Sprinkle the ground spices over the dough and knead well.
  12. Roll the dough and divide into equal parts.
  13. Roll each part into small balls.
  14. Place them on the greased pan.
  15. Cover and set aside to prove for 20 -25 minutes.
  16. Preheat the oven for 10 minutes at 180*C before proffing time is over.
  17. Apply milk wash on the bread rolls ,and bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes at 180 *c.
  18. Remove from oven ,cool and serve.

My Tip:

Time may vary for baking buns. Egg wash can be done in place of milk wash.
