Pressure cooked barely is mixed with vegetables and little spices are added according to elderly people.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Barley 1 cup
  2. Onion 1/2
  3. Carrot 1
  4. Beans7
  5. Capsicum 1
  6. Ginger garlic paste 1/4 teaspoon
  7. Chilli powder 1/4 teaspoon
  8. Cummin powder 2pinch
  9. Oil 2 teaspoon
  10. Water 2cup
  11. tumeric powder a pinch
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Coriander leaves for garnishing


  1. Soak barley overnight.
  2. Wash thrice and pressure cook for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a wok.
  4. Add onion and saute for a minute. Add ginger garlic paste and saute till raw smell disappears.
  5. Add all the vegetables and saute for five minutes. Add all the dry powders.
  6. Drain barley and store the water. It can be consumed adding little salt.
  7. Add 1/2 teaspoon of oil to the boiled barley to avoid sticking to each other.
  8. Mix barley to the vegetable mixture and cook for just two minutes.
  9. Garnish it with coriander leaves.
