Barley Oats Porridge

Ingredients to make Barley Oats Porridge

  • Pearl barley 1 cup
  • Oats 1 cup
  • Mutton/vegetable stock( broth of mutton legs)
  • salt to taste
  • 1 green chillie
  • Green garlic 2 to 3 tbsp finely chopped
  • Golden fried onions 2 tbsp
  • Fresh mint leaves few
  • Pure ghee 2 tbsp
  • lemon for serving
  • Garam masala a pinch optional

How to make Barley Oats Porridge

  1. Boil the barley in 2 cups water and 1 green chillie
  2. You can boil in the pressure cooker till 2 whistles
  3. Open the cooker and add oats
  4. And the mutton/ vegetable stock
  5. ( boneless mutton can also be added)
  6. Add salt as per your taste
  7. Cook till the oats are cooked
  8. Take a plate and add the porridge
  9. Add chopped garlic in the centre and fried onions on the sides
  10. Pour hot ghee over the garlic and onions
  11. Garnish with fresh mint leaves and freshly squeezed lemon juice
  12. Sprinkle some garam masala if you like
  13. Enjoy as it is or with rotis

My Tip:

FOR vegetarian version use veg stock
