A recipe made with boiled potatoes and outer layer made of besan

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 small potatoes boiled and mashed
  2. 2 green chilies chopped (can skip for kids)
  3. 1 medium onion chopped finely
  4. 1 teaspoon Coriander leave
  5. 1 tomato chopped small
  6. 1/2 teaspoon red chilly powder
  7. 1 pinch of Asafoetida / hing
  8. 1/3 teaspoon garam masala
  9. 1 inch grated ginger
  10. 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  11. handful of roasted peanuts
  12. Batter
  13. 2 Tablespoon of Besan
  14. 1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
  15. 1/2 tea spoon red chili powder
  16. salt to taste
  17. 1 pinch Baking soda
  18. 1/3 teaspoon kalonji
  19. 1/4 cup water
  20. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Add salt , turmaric powder and red chilly powder, garam masala, to the potatoes and mashed it without any lumps keep it aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a non stick pan. Add the ginger and chopped green chilies and fry until the raw smell goes off .
  3. Then add onion fry till raw smell goes now add tomatoes and cook till tender.
  4. Add the mashed potato.
  5. Mix on low flame and add the peanuts (preferably dry roasted earlier - you can use raw ones too).
  6. Keep aside and let it cool.
  7. Prepare the batter by mixing the besan well with the salt and turmeric powder and chili powder, kalonji, a pinch of soda, until no lumps remain.
  8. Make the batter a little thick so that it coats the stuffing nicely.
  9. Heat the oil for deep frying.
  10. Divide the potato mixture into small balls with your palm.
  11. Dip each round piece in the batter and deep fry till golden brown.
  12. Serve hot with ketchup or green chutney as I did... Happy cooking..:blush::blush:
