ABOUT One-pan Full English Breakfast! RECIPE

Often fondly referred as the 'Fry-up', the full English breakfast is among the most internationally recognized British dishes along with staples such as Shepherd's pie, Fish 'N chips and Roast beef. It typically includes bacon, sausages, eggs, baked beans, toast, grilled tomatoes & mushrooms, along with a beverage such as coffee or tea. Each country in the UK has its own name for this breakfast like- 'A full Scottish breakfast', 'A full Welsh breakfast' etc and interestingly, also their own respective choices of delicious accompaniments as well, such as Hash-browns, Scones or Black pudding. They are all different variations of the same dish- a full English breakfast. A good breakfast should be three things- Nutritious, Filling and quick to make. A full English breakfast ticks all of these check-boxes very well. This is one of the most essential meal-options that I have learnt during our two year stay in Britain. On those mornings when hubby has to rush to office early and I do not have time to make 'Poha' or 'Sabudana khichdi' and other regular breakfast options for him, a quick fry-up ensures that he gets a delicious wholesome breakfast before leaving the house and doesn't feel hungry for a long time at work. Not to forget, it's amazing that you can make it all in one pan! Try it friends, and as they say in the UK- "TUCK IN!!"

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. 3 slices bacon strips or pork rashers, fat removed
  2. 3-4 pork sausages
  3. 2 large eggs
  4. 1 small can of Baked beans
  5. A few cherry tomatoes
  6. Some sliced field mushrooms
  7. 2 bread slices
  8. 1 tbsn olive oil
  9. 1 tbsn butter
  10. Salt & pepper for seasoning

Instructions

  1. In a large non-stick frying-pan, heat your butter.
  2. Once it melts, throw in your sliced mushrooms and whole cherry tomatoes. Season with some salt and pepper and saute in butter for 5-7 minutes, until they look tender and cooked. Transfer to a plate. Set aside.
  3. Place your rashers one by one on the pan.Place your sausages besides the rashers as well. No need to add additional oil or grease.
  4. Cook everything till the meat looks evenly browned and cooked! Transfer to the same plate containing veggies. Set aside.
  5. Wipe the pan of all the oil that the rashers and sausages have left behind. We will cook our eggs in fresh oil.
  6. Heat your olive oil in the pan and once it gets hot, break your eggs one by one carefully so that the yolk doesn't break. Season with salt & pepper and cook sunny side up.
  7. While your eggs are cooking, pop your bread slices in the toaster to toast and also pour your baked beans along side the eggs in a pan to heat.
  8. In a large plate, assemble all the components of your breakfast together- bacon, sausages, cooked vegetables, fried-eggs, baked beans and buttered toasts. Yum!
  9. Serve immediately with a piping hot cup of tea or coffee! Enjoy!
