Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For making roti;:
  2. Oil - 2 tsp
  3. Turmeric powder - 1 and half tsp
  4. Salt - 1 tsp
  5. All purpose flour - 2 cups
  6. Hot water as required
  7. Baking powder - 1 tsp
  8. For inner pooranam filling::
  9. Channa Dal -1/2 cup
  10. Cardamom powder -1 tsp
  11. Ghee -1 tsp
  12. Jaggery -1/2 cup
  13. Grated coconut -1 cup


  1. Outer layer::: In bowl add all purpose flour,salt,baking soda add hot water little by little to mixture and make smooth and sticky dough.apply some ghee or oil and cover it.keep aside.
  2. In pressure cooker add dal.wait for 4-5 whistles.after mash it and set aside.
  3. Now boil jaggery with help of water and strain it to remove impurities.
  4. After boil the jaggery syrup.wait for 5 min now add mashed dal.stir well.and add grated coconut,little ghee.stir well untill it reaches thick consistency.
  5. Cool it and roll it like balls
  6. And Now Take a small portion of the dough and roll it into ball. Lay it out on plate and flatten it out using fingers.and take sweet pooranam balls insert into dough by rolling.
  7. Now flatten the dough.
  8. Heat tawa add little amount of ghee.and put Poli dough. Cook both sides((golden colour))
  9. Sweet Poli is ready to serve
