Bhogi is a harvest festival that we celebrate during makar sankaranthi and this is a day to give up old things and old habits and start new . It’s a tradition to do puran Poli during Bhogi

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups maida
  2. 1 cup oil
  3. Half cup ghee
  4. Pinch of salt
  5. One spoon turmeric
  6. 1 cup Chana dal
  7. Half cup toor dal
  8. 2 cups jaggery
  9. 4-5 elaichi
  10. I slice dried ginger


  1. Take the maida and add water and make it into a thick dough like a Chapathi dough mixing water little by little add 3-4 spoons oil and let this rest for 2-3 hours
  2. In a pressure cooker add the Chana dal and toor dal and let this cook for four whistles
  3. Now add the jaggery to the warm cooked dal and cook till this mixture is thick add elaichi and dried ginger
  4. Take a mixer and pulse this till the dal mixture can be rolled
  5. Roll the maida like chapathi and stuff the puran mixture and roll like a stuffed paratha
  6. Take a pan and add some ghee and cook the Poli till done
