Nachos with Cheese Sauce

Ingredients to make Nachos with Cheese Sauce

  • For Nachos:
  • ½ Cup all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 ½ Cup cornmeal (Makke ka atta)
  • ½ Tsp crushed black pepper
  • ½ Tsp oil
  • salt to taste
  • For Cheese Sauce:
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1 Tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)
  • 1 Cup milk
  • 2 Processed cheddar cheese cubes (40 gm) OR Sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/8 Tsp turmeric powder
  • salt to taste

How to make Nachos with Cheese Sauce

  1. In a bowl, take 1 ½ cup corn meal and add 1/2 cup all purpose flour (maida).
  2. Add 1/2 tsp crushed black pepper, 1/8 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp cooking oil and salt to taste.
  3. Mix well and knead into a soft dough using water. Cover and keep aside for 10 mins.
  4. Take a small portion of the dough. Sprinkle some plain flour on a platform and start rolling it thin using a rolling pin. Your tortilla sheet is now ready.
  5. Cut this sheet in 6-8 equal triangular shapes using a pizza cutter or knife.
  6. Prick these nachos using a fork so that they don’t swell up while frying.
  7. Gently lift the nachos and drop them in hot oil. Fry them till they become crisp on low to medium flame. Once done, remove onto a paper towel.
  8. Sauce: Heat a pan and add 2 tbsp butter. Once the butter melts, add 1 tbsp all purpose flour. Cook it for 2-3 min by constantly stirring it till the raw smell of all purpose flour goes away.
  9. Add little bit of turmeric powder and sauté for few seconds. Add chilli powder (optional).
  10. Add milk to the sauce and stir to get a smooth and lump-free sauce.
  11. Add 40 gm processed cheddar or sharp cheddar cheese and some salt to taste.
  12. Switch off the flame and let the sauce become warm but not cold.
  13. Pour sauce over the nachos. Your crispy nachos with delicious cheese sauce are ready. Enjoy!
