ABOUT Sweet Daliya with jaggery RECIPE

Broken wheat sweet Daliya is one my childhood favourite breakfast mom used to make mostly in winters. Sweetened with jaggery, this is a wholesome nourishing breakfast for kids , elderly and all ages alike.

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. 1 tbsp ghee
  2. 4 tbsp broken wheat/ Daliya
  3. 4 tbsp jaggery
  4. 3 cups water
  5. 2 green cardamoms
  6. 5-6 black peppercorns
  7. almonds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in pressure cooker and add green cardamoms and black peppercorns.
  2. Add the broken wheat and sauté for 2-3 mins on medium flame till brown.
  3. Add 1 cup of water and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.
  4. Open the cooker and add more water and grated jaggery.
  5. Pressure cook for 2 whistles and then for 10 mins on low flame.
  6. Take out in bowl and garnish with sliced almonds.
