It is a good combination of sweet and sour along with health. Everyone knows the benefits of eating amla. But due to its bitter taste it is impossible to eat it raw so i try it into a pickle that is loved by everyone. Amla provide us vitamin c and it is rich in fiber and boosts immunity. It is also helpful in manages constipation.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Amla 1 kg
  2. Onion 1 Chopped
  3. Ginger 2tablespoon
  4. Garlic 4 tablespoon
  5. Jaggery 1/2 kg ( grated)
  6. Sugar 1 cup
  7. Salt 4 tablespoon
  8. Red chili powder 4 tablespoon
  9. Garam masala powder 2 tablespoon
  10. Black pepper powder 2 tablespoon
  11. Vinegar 5 tablespoon
  12. Panch phoran masala powder 4 tablespoon
  13. Mustard oil 4 tablespoon


  1. Wash and dry amlas. Put into a steamer and steam it till they are tender.
  2. Check it with the help of fork and let it cool.
  3. When it becomes cool then remove its seed and cut into pieces.
  4. Now add mustard oil to a pan when it is smoke then add chopped onion, ginger, garlic and roast it till it becomes golden brown.
  5. Add panch phoran ( panch phoran receipe is available separately) and other dry masala stir constantly. Add jaggery and let it melted.
  6. Add sugar and mix well. When masala leaves oil add amla pieces. And cook for 7 minutes and stir constantly.
  7. When it mix well put the flame off. Now add vinegar and mix well.
  8. Let it cool down. After this put it into a clean steralised jar.
