this is my mom’s vegetable pulao recipe and one of our favorite rice recipes..

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Basmati rice 1 cup
  2. Green peas 3/4 cup
  3. Tomato 1
  4. Onion 1
  5. Turmeric 1 Tsp
  6. Curry leaves 8-10
  7. Red chili powder 1 Tbsp
  8. Garam masala 1 Tsp
  9. Salt As per taste
  10. Oil 2 Tbsp
  11. Black cardamom 2
  12. Jeera 1 Tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash the Basmati rice and soak it for 10 min. Drain and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a cooker. Add cumin seeds, curry leaves,black cardamom. Add sliced onion, stir and saute till the onion turns translucent.
  3. Add chopped tomato and stir it for 5 min.
  4. Add salt, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder and mix well.
  5. Add the drained rice and stir gently.
  6. Add green peas and water, mix gently.
  7. Cover the lid of the pressure cooker, and cook until one whistle on medium flame.Turn off the heat.
  8. Serve hot , pour 1 spoon of ghee on it. Ghee increases the taste of Pulao. Serve with chutney or pickle and papad.
