Masala dandal(cauliflower stalk)

Ingredients to make Masala dandal(cauliflower stalk)

  • 1 bowl long cutted cauliflower stalk
  • 3 onion roughly chopped
  • 2 tomato chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger grated
  • 1 green chilly chopped
  • 1 tbs oil
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 tsp red chilly powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1-1/2 cup water

How to make Masala dandal(cauliflower stalk)

  1. Cut the cauliflower stalk into long pieces
  2. Wash the pieces with Luke warm water
  3. Grind onions, garlic, ginger,tomato, green chilly in chopper till a fine paste is ready.
  4. Fine paste is ready.
  5. Add oil to the wok and heat it. Add cumin seeds,wait till they crackle.
  6. Add onion ,tomato paste. Mix it for 3-4 min.
  7. After 3-4 min. add salt,turmeric powder, red chilly powder and mix it till masala leaves the oil.
  8. After that add cauliflower stalk and mix well.
  9. Add 1-1/2 cup water and mix it. Cover the pan with lid till the stalk becomes soft.It will take 10-15 min. Keep mixing the contents in between.
  10. Once the mixture starts leaving pan ,add garam masala ,black pepper and mix well.
  11. Masala dandal are ready. Serve hot.

My Tip:

Same recipe can be made using pressure cooker as well. Softening of cauliflower stem would require 2-3 whistles
