PUTTU AND KADALA CURRY

Ingredients to make PUTTU AND KADALA CURRY

  • Rice flour 1 cup
  • Grateted coconut 1/2 cup
  • Little salt
  • water as required
  • For kadala curry
  • Black channa 1cup
  • onion 1
  • tomato 3
  • Sambhar powder 1 teaspoon
  • Tumeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • salt to taste
  • fennel seed 1 teaspoon
  • mustard seed 1/2 teaspoon
  • cloves 3
  • coconut oil 3 teaspoon
  • coconut pieces 1/4 cup
  • fennel seeds1/4 teaspoon
  • salt to taste

How to make PUTTU AND KADALA CURRY

  1. Soak black channa overnight for 7 hours.
  2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and temper it with mustard seed fennel seed and cloves.
  3. Add onion and saute well.
  4. Add tomato and saute till mushy
  5. Add soaked channa and add sambhar powder, turmeric powder and salt to taste.
  6. Pressure cook for 20 minutes.
  7. Ground coconut with fennel seed and make a paste.
  8. Add coconut paste to the kadala curry and garnish it with coriander leaves. Kadala curry is ready for Puttu.
  9. Boil water with salt as per requirement.
  10. Sprinkle it on rice flour till its crumbly mixture.
  11. Take a puttu maker and fill grated coconut and rice flour alternately and steam for 10 minutes.
  12. It's done.. Serve rice puttu with kadala curry.

My Tip:

Soak blach channa overnight.
