Idli and red coconut chutney

Ingredients to make Idli and red coconut chutney

  • Urud dal 1/2 cup
  • Pakistani white rice 1 cup
  • Boiled rice 3/4 cup
  • yeast a pinch
  • salt
  • For Chutney
  • coconut 1 cup
  • chilly powder 1 Teaspoon
  • tamarind paste 1/2 teaspoon
  • ginger small piece
  • garlic pods 3
  • salt
  • Musturd seeds few
  • curry leaves few
  • oil

How to make Idli and red coconut chutney

  1. Soak urud dal and pakistani rice for 4 hours
  2. Grind soaked dal and rice with boiled rice by addind little water. Batter should be thick
  3. Add a pinch of yeast mix well and keep close over night for fermentation
  4. When it is done add salt and mix well
  5. Take idli pan pour the batter and steam till is it cooked
  6. Meanwhile take a grinder add coconut tamerind paste chilly powder ginger and garlic grind well
  7. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds when it splutters add Curry leaves
  8. Then pour the coconut mixture and cook for two minutes add salt chutney is ready
  9. Serve hot with soft fluffy idlies
