Grandma's Fish Pulusu / Fish curry

Ingredients to make Grandma's Fish Pulusu / Fish curry

  • Fish - 1 kg(river water fish)
  • For the masala :
  • onions - 4
  • Red chillies - 12 to 15
  • cumin seeds-1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • water-1 cup
  • For tempering :
  • oil - 3 tbsps
  • Red chillies - 3 to 4
  • mustard seeds-1 tsp
  • onion sliced - 1
  • Tamarind pulp - 2lwmon sized tamarind soaked in a cup of water
  • salt to taste
  • turmeric - 1/2 tsp
  • curry leaves - a handfull
  • coriander - 50 gms

How to make Grandma's Fish Pulusu / Fish curry

  1. ADD 12 TO 15 RED HOT CHILLIES TO A GRINDER
  2. SLICE 4 ONIONS
  3. ADD 1 TSP CUMIN
  4. ADD THE SLICED ONIONS
  5. ADD 1 TBSP SALT
  6. ADD A CUP OF WATER
  7. GRIND TO A SMOOTH PASTE
  8. SOAK 2 LEMON SIZED TAMARIND BALLS IN A CUP OF WATER
  9. HEAT 3 TBSP OIL. ADD 1 TSP MUSTARD SEEDS.
  10. ADD 4 RED CHILLIES
  11. ADD 1 SLICED ONION
  12. WHEN TRANSPERANT ADD CLEAN WASHED FISH PIECES - 1 KG
  13. ADD 1 TSP TURMERIC AND TOSS
  14. ADD THE GROUND MASALA PASTE
  15. SQUEEZE TAMARIND JUICE AND ADD
  16. ADD CURRY LEAVES
  17. ADD WATER - 1 OR 2 CUPS
  18. ADD CHOPPED CORIANDER - 50 GMS
  19. COVER AND SIMMER ON MEDIUM FLAME FOR 10 MINUTES
  20. UNCOVER CHECK FOR SEASONING.
  21. AUTHENTIC FISH PULUSU READY IN GRANDMA'S STYLE.
