A holi special dish, it tastes very different and no one can guess that it is made of suji.

Suji ka halwa

Ingredients to make Suji ka halwa

  • 1 cup suji or rawa (without roasting)
  • 1 and 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • 1/2 cup sugar or less, as per taste
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 1 tsp raisins
  • 2 tsp desiccated coconut
  • 1 spoon soaked almonds, optional

How to make Suji ka halwa

  1. Soak the suji in milk for 30 mins.
  2. Meanwhile make the syrup with sugar, water and cardamom. Bring them to boil till it gets slightly thick but not of a thread consistency, it should just be slightly thick.
  3. Heat ghee to it and add the soaked suji. Cook at a medium flame but stir continuously for 3-4 mins then add the sugar syrup to it and mix well.
  4. Next add raisins, desiccated coconut, almonds and cook for the next 3-4 mins.
  5. Garnish with desiccated coconut and serve it hot.
