ABOUT Chilly Chinese steamed egg RECIPE

Chinese Steamed egg is one of those Chinese comfort foods that you can never go wrong with. It is smooth texture, appearing more or less like a piece of silken tofu/paneer.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Egg 4
  2. 3 medium size onion(chopped finely)
  3. Garlic 10 pods finely chopped
  4. Ginger 1tsp finely chopped
  5. Green chilli 2 finely chopped
  6. Curry leave few 10 -15 nos
  7. Soya sauce 1tsp
  8. Chilli sauce 1tsp
  9. Tomato 1tsp
  10. Coriander leaves 1tbsp finely chopped
  11. Water 2 cup
  12. Salt to taste
  13. Oil for frying 4 tbsp


  1. Now beat those eggs and whisk it nicely add salt to it to
  2. Now take sauce pan pour water in it and bring to boil
  3. Pour this egg mixture in a container which is perfectly fit to sauce pan brim and using double boiler method will steam the egg for 10 to 15 minutes. Till the tooth pick comes out clean
  4. Once cool completely will cut into pieces
  5. Take a fry pan and add oil to it ,once heated add chopped steamed egg pieces and shallow fry till it turn light golden brown and keep it aside
  6. In the same oil add chopped garlic, ginger and green Chilli and saute for 2 minutes
  7. Now add curry leaves and onion and saute till the onion are translucent
  8. Now add all sauces to it cook in simmer for 1 minute
  9. Now add fried steam egg pieces and cook in slow flame ,till it became dry
  10. Now give a nice toast in high flame for 2 minutes and add chopped Coriander leaves
  11. Serve as starter/appetizer/side dish
