About French Loaf Recipe

This loaf is known as sour dough bread in France.

French Loaf

Ingredients to make French Loaf

  • all purpose flour 4 bowls
  • sugar 4 tbsp
  • Dry yeast 21/2 tbsp
  • Milk 2 bowls or as required
  • salt 1tsp
  • butter 4 tbsp
  • onion seeds 1tsp

How to make French Loaf

  1. Take flour in a big bowl
  2. Add melted butter in it.
  3. Put salt in it
  4. In a medium hot milk bowl add sugar and stir it
  5. Add dry yeast and cover for a minute
  6. Stir all ingredients properly and pour it in the flour.
  7. Make a loose dough.
  8. Dough must not be very hard.
  9. Make smooth dough with the help of butter.
  10. Now put it in a warm place for rising.
  11. When it double in size .punch it.
  12. And knead thoroughly.
  13. Now u can make its shape as per your choice.
  14. Or make braid(Choti) as shown in the picture.
  15. And again rest it for rising.
  16. As it rise sprinkle onion seeds. .
  17. Brush it with butter.
  18. And put it in the oven at 180° for 20 to 25 minutes.
  19. Take it out from the oven.
  20. Brush it with butter and milk.
  21. And French Loaf is ready.

My Tip:

Rising time of bread depends on temperature. Dough should be double in size before baking.
