Mutton Gravy is an Indian dish that is prepared from mutton with some vegetables like Drumstick, potato, Raw banana etc.Mutton gravy is served with Roti, Rice, Naan, and parota. It is very easy to make and very tasty.,

Mutton Gravy

Ingredients to make Mutton Gravy

  • Mutton-1/2 kg
  • onion - 3 chopped
  • tomato-1 chopped
  • curd-6 tablespoon
  • ginger and garlic paste-2 tablespoon
  • cardamom-5
  • clove-5
  • cinnamon sticks-3
  • bay leaf-1
  • fennel seeds-1/4 tablespoon
  • coconut - 6 tablespoon
  • cashew-8
  • ghee -2 tablespoon
  • coconut oil -3 tablespoon
  • coriander leaves- few chopped
  • mint leaves- few chopped
  • turmeric powder-1/2 tablespoon
  • red chili powder-2 -3tablespoon
  • coriander powder- 2 tablespoon
  • cumin powder- 1 tablespoon
  • fennel powder-1/2 tablespoon
  • Garam masala -1/2 tablespoon
  • salt- required amount

How to make Mutton Gravy

  1. First marinate the mutton with 3 tablespoon of curd,1 tablespoon of ginger garlic paste, half of the amount of all the spice powder and half of the amount of chopped onion, tomato, coriander leaves, mint leaves and salt. Mix all the ingredients with mutton and refrigerate for 1-2 hrs.
  2. Now in a pressure cooker add 2 tablespoon of ghee and 3 tablespoon of coconut oil once oil is hot add cardamom, clove, bay leaf, cinnamon sticks and saute for minute.
  3. Now take the remaining curd and add the remaining chopped onion, tomato,coriander leaves, mint leaves, ginger garlic paste and some salt mix them well and add it in to the cookerand cook them well for some time.
  4. Then add remaining turmeric, red chili, cumin, coriander, fennel, garam masala powder and mix them well and cook for some time until the raw smell of masala powder goes off.
  5. Now add the marinated mutton pieces and mix well and cook them for 5 minutes.once mutton mixed with masala now add required amount of water and salt cook them for 5-6 whistle..
  6. In the meantime grind coconut with cashew in a mixi and add some water and make a fine paste.
  7. once 5-6 whistle finished switch of the stove and wait until pressure goes.
  8. Now open the lid and add the coconut cashew nut paste and let them go for 1 more whistle.
  9. once the pressure goes down open the lid and add som curry leaves..
  10. Now the yummy and delicious Mutton gravy is ready. serve with this mutton gravy with roti, naan, parota and rice.

My Tip:

Add the spices depends upon you taste..
