Ingredients to make Fish Pulimunchi

  • 500 gms Fish (I used black pomfret) cleaned and cut into curry pieces
  • 1 tblsp coconut oil
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • For masala grind together: 1 medium onion,
  • 12 bedgi red chillies
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tblsp tamarind pulp
  • 3-4 tirphal or pepper
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 inch ginger
  • 1/4 tsp methi seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 1/2 tsp coriander seeds

How to make Fish Pulimunchi

  1. Grind all the masala ingredients to a fine paste.
  2. Place the masala in a curry dish.
  3. Add water to the curry consistency of your liking. I added 4 cups.
  4. Let the curry come to a rolling boil. Add salt to taste
  5. Simmer the curry and add fish pieces.
  6. Swirl till the pieces are well coated
  7. Let it simmer for 3-4 mins.take off heat
  8. Heat oil in a tadka pan and curry leaves.
  9. Let it sizzle. Pour this sizzling tadka over the curry.
  10. Serve hot with rice
