ABOUT Dhuska - A taditional dish from Jharkhand RECIPE

Dhuska is a festive delicacy from states of Bihar and Jharkhand. Rice and lentil's deep fried cakes served with spicy chickpea curry and tomato chutney. This breakfast recipe is now getting popular for a change from world famous north Indian and south Indian food.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Rice 1 cup
  2. Chana dal 1/2 cup
  3. Ginger 1 tbsp
  4. Green chilies 2
  5. Salt 1 tesp
  6. Asafoetida a pinch
  7. Green coriander leaves 1 tbsp
  8. Chopped carrots 2 tbsp
  9. Green peas 2 tbsp
  10. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. SOAK 1 CUP RICE, 1/2 CUP BENGAL GRAM / CHANA DAL OVERNIGHT
  2. WASH & STRAIN
  3. PLACE IN A MIXER JAR, ADD 1 TBSP GINGER, 1 TSP GREEN CHILLIES, 1+1/4 CUP WATER, GRIND TILL SMOOTH
  4. TAKE THE GROUND BATTER, ADD 1 TSP SALT, A PINCH OF ASAFOETIDA, 1 TBSP CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES
  5. ADD 2 TBSP EACH OF FINELY CHOPPED CARROTS & GREEN PEAS
  6. ADD A LADLE FULL OF BATTER IN HOT OIL, DEEP FRY
  7. FLIP & FRY FROM BOTH SIDES
  8. FRY UNTIL GOLDEN BROWN & CRISP, PLACE ON ABSORBENT PAPER
  9. SERVE WITH SPICY CHICKPEA CURRY & TOMATO CHUTNEY
