About Saabut Murg Recipe

Whole chicken ..... Delicasy of Mughlai cuisine.....marinated in authentic spices, cooked by frying and steaming that leaves a mesmerizing and lip smacking flavor .

Saabut Murg

Ingredients to make Saabut Murg

  • 1 Whole chicken
  • 2 cups vinegar
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tsp ginger paste
  • 2 tsp garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp curd
  • 1 pinch yellow colour
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 lemon juice
  • 1 tsp red chille flakes
  • 1 tsp red chille powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp black.pepper powder
  • salt as per taste
  • oil for frying

How to make Saabut Murg

  1. Make slits on Chicken with sharp knife all over .
  2. In a large bowl, mix vinegar with 2 cups water and 1 tsp each of ginger and garlic paste and salt
  3. Dip chicken in this bowl and let it rest for atleast 30 minutes.
  4. Combine all the ingredients except oil and remaining 2 cups of water , Form into a smooth paste.
  5. Apply this mixture on the Chicken thoroughly all over covering the slits as well.
  6. Let it marinate for another 30 minutes.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan and put chicken in it.
  8. Cook for 10 minutes on medium flame...Do not turn he chicken.
  9. Heat 2 cups water in a pan and place a strainer ( chhanni ) on it
  10. Place Chicken on the strainer and cover with a bowl.or deep vessel
  11. Steam the Chicken for 15 minutes on low flame.
  12. Garnish with your choice of salad.

My Tip:

Do not over fry the chicken or else it will turn hard...enjoy without any dip as chicken itself is so juicy.
