Punjabi saabut moong dal

Ingredients to make Punjabi saabut moong dal

  • 200 gram moong daal
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 21/2 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 cup onion chopped
  • 2 tomato chopped
  • 2 whole red chilly
  • 1 green chilly chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • asafoetida a pinch
  • "lime juice
  • coriander leaves

How to make Punjabi saabut moong dal

  1. Clean moong Dal in water, washed and soak for 4-5 hours
  2. In boiled it in pressure cooker
  3. Take a pan.,
  4. Then add ginger, garlic paste
  5. Onion chopped and tomato ,and cooked till they are pulpy
  6. Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilly powder .
  7. Add Garam masala powder and mix well
  8. Pour the hot tempering in the pressure cooker
  9. Now in another tadka pan heat 1/2 tsp ghee add cumin seeds, red chilly ,Asafoetida ,allow the cumin seeds to pop and switch off the heat add this hot tadka over the hot daal.
  10. Mix it well and serve it in a big bowl.
  11. Garnish with coriander leaves

My Tip:

Serve this Punjabi style Saboot moong dal tadka with Tandoori Roti Tandoori Paratha or rice
