Tinde Chatpate

Ingredients to make Tinde Chatpate

  • Tinde 8 (½ kg)
  • Fine chopped tomatoes 4
  • Fine chopped onions 3
  • Fine chopped green chillies 4
  • Fine chopped garlic 5/6
  • gram flour 2 tablespoons
  • all purpose flour 2 tablespoons
  • Baking powder ¼ teaspoon
  • cumin seeds ½ teaspoon
  • Garam masala ¾ teaspoon
  • chilly flakes {according to taste}
  • Carrom seeds ½ teaspoon
  • Pure ghee 3 tablespoons
  • oil for frying
  • water as required
  • salt to taste

How to make Tinde Chatpate

  1. Heat oil in a wok.
  2. Meanwhile in a bowl add gram flour, all purpose flour, baking powder, chillies, carom seeds, salt and water as required and make a fine paste.
  3. Now add the peeled and cut tindas in the paste.
  4. Deep fry these tindas in hot oil.
  5. Take another wok and heat oil and crackle cumin seeds, then add chopped onions and fry until golden brown.
  6. Once golden brown add garlic, tomato, green chillies, turmeric powder, salt and little water and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  7. Add the fried tindas in this gravy, mix it well and cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  8. Your chatpate tinde are ready, serve with butter naan or pudina paranthas.
