Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Tinde 8 (½ kg)
  2. Fine chopped tomatoes 4
  3. Fine chopped onions 3
  4. Fine chopped green chillies 4
  5. Fine chopped garlic 5/6
  6. Gram flour 2 tablespoons
  7. All purpose flour 2 tablespoons
  8. Baking powder ¼ teaspoon
  9. Cumin seeds ½ teaspoon
  10. Garam masala ¾ teaspoon
  11. Chilly flakes {according to taste}
  12. Carrom seeds ½ teaspoon
  13. Pure Ghee 3 tablespoons
  14. Oil for frying
  15. Water as required
  16. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a wok.
  2. Meanwhile in a bowl add gram flour, all purpose flour, baking powder, chillies, carom seeds, salt and water as required and make a fine paste.
  3. Now add the peeled and cut tindas in the paste.
  4. Deep fry these tindas in hot oil.
  5. Take another wok and heat oil and crackle cumin seeds, then add chopped onions and fry until golden brown.
  6. Once golden brown add garlic, tomato, green chillies, turmeric powder, salt and little water and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  7. Add the fried tindas in this gravy, mix it well and cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  8. Your chatpate tinde are ready, serve with butter naan or pudina paranthas.
