Yet a South Indian delicacy,but equally popular in North India also.


Ingredients to make Sambhar.

  • Turdal 1/2cup
  • Gourd cut into cubes,1cup
  • Drum stick pieces lcup
  • bottle gourd 1/2cup
  • Brinjal 2_4cubes
  • Sambhar masala 3table spoon
  • red chilly powder 1tea spoon.
  • coconut powder 1table spoon
  • tamarind pulp2table spoon
  • curry leaves 10_12
  • Black mustard seed1table spoon
  • Red chillies 3
  • oil 2table spoon
  • salt to taste

How to make Sambhar.

  1. Put turdal ,allthe vegetables and salt into acooker.
  2. Pressure cook for 5minutes on medium flame.
  3. Open cooker lid after pressure release.
  4. Add 4cups of water ,add red chilly powder,sambhar masala and coconut powder
  5. Boil on medium flame for 5_7 minutes
  6. Now add tamarind pulp ,mix well.
  7. Remove from stope.
  8. Heat oil in a laddle
  9. Put red ,chillies,mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  10. When seeds start crackle ,add to sambhar.
  11. Serve with idly,dosa,or even as a soup.

may be,but it is not as good as made in south India.thanx for appreciation.
