ABOUT Jharkhand Spl - Chilka Roti & Channa Dal Ki Chutney RECIPE

Chilka Roti is prepared by soaking the rice and dal and ground together for the batter. Channa dal ki chutney prepared with channa dal, coconut and chillies.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Ingredients For Chilka Roti:
  2. Rice - 1 Cup
  3. Channa Dal - 1/2 Cup
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Oil - for Cooking
  6. Ingredients For Channa Dal Ki Chutney:
  7. Grated Coconut -1/2 Cup
  8. Green Chilli - 1 or 2
  9. Channa Dal - 2 tbsp
  10. Oil -1/2 tsp
  11. Salt to taste
  12. For Tadka:
  13. Oil -1 tsp
  14. Mustard seeds -1/4 tsp
  15. Urad dal -1/4 tsp
  16. Curry leaves - sprig
  17. Hing- 1/8 tsp

Instructions

  1. For the chilka roti, wash and soak together the rice and dal for 4 -5 hrs. Drain the water and grind this into a fine paste by adding little water.
  2. If you want thin roti, then you can add little water to the batter and then add salt, mix it well. Now heat a dosa/ non-stick pan at medium heat.
  3. Grease with oil, pour a ladle full of batter, spread it nicely over the pan. Drizzle with little oil. Cook it for 1/2 minute, then flip it into the other side. Cook it again for a few seconds.
  4. Serve it hot with channa dal ki chutney or any curry of your choice.
  5. For the channa dal ki chutney, roast the channa dal with 1/2 tsp oil. Once it gets roasted, take it off from the heat and let it cool down completely.
  6. In a mixer/grinder, add the all ingredients with a little water and grind into a fine paste. Transfer them into a bowl.
  7. Temper with the ingredients given under 'To Temper'. Pour this temper over the chutney.
