Ingredients to make Kathal Bhuna

  • Jackfruit (cut into 1 inch pieces ) 500 gram
  • mustard oil 1½cup
  • onion chopped 2
  • ginger Garlic paste 2 tablespoon
  • Dry red chilli 3
  • bay leaf 2
  • cardamom 3-4
  • clove 2-3
  • cinnamon 1 inch
  • turmeric powder 1½ teaspoon
  • red chilli powder 2 teaspoon
  • cumin powder 2 teaspoon
  • coriander powder 2 teaspoon
  • Meat masala powder 2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder ½ teaspoon
  • salt to taste

How to make Kathal Bhuna

  1. Heat 1 cup oil and fry the jackfruit pieces over high flame, till become light brown keep aside.
  2. Take a pressure cooker add remaining oil heat the oil add whole spices and saute for few seconds.
  3. Add onion stir fry till golden brown.
  4. In a small bowl add turmeric, red chilli powder , cumin powder, coriander powder, meat masala powder and salt mix well with ½cup of water.
  5. Add masala mix into the cooker and fry till oil separated.
  6. Add jakfruit pieces mix well saute for 5-6 minutes.
  7. Add ½ cup of water, close the lid and cook the jackfruit for 2 whistle.
  8. Remove lid add garam masala and dry out excess water on high flame.

I have tried n it was awesome... Forget to use ginger garlic paste as it was not mentioned in the method but next time sure I will use it.
