About Echor DALNA/ Raw Jackfruit curry Recipe

Raw Jackfruit curry is also called as poor mans mutton CURRY. It is prepared in a rich way with all Indian spices, ghee and so it is just like our own mutton curry.

Echor DALNA/ Raw Jackfruit curry

Ingredients to make Echor DALNA/ Raw Jackfruit curry

  • 1 kg of Raw Jackfruit cut into small pieces
  • Cubed potatoes 2 nos.
  • 2 small tomatoes chopped
  • 3 chopped onions
  • 2 tablespoon each of ginger garlic paste
  • coriander powder - 1 tsp
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • cumin powder - 1 tsp
  • garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  • bay leaf - 1
  • whole red chilli for tempering - 1
  • mustard oil for cooking and lil ghee for taste and flavour.

How to make Echor DALNA/ Raw Jackfruit curry

  1. The Jackfruit can be boiled with salt and haldi before or can be cooked directly.
  2. Then take a wok and heat the oil and put bay leaf and whole red chilli for tempering.
  3. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar in the oil wait until its caramelized
  4. Add the chopped onions and fry until brown. Then add the ginger garlic paste. Saute or for sometime.
  5. Mix all the dry Masala powder in lil bit of water and pour it in the wok and saute for some more time.
  6. Then add the boiled Jackfruit without the water in the Masala.
  7. Pour some water as how you would like the gravy to be and cover it with a lid.
  8. When the gravy is done add some ghee and garam Masala powder to it and dish out.
