It is very tasty and good accompanied with chapathi, dosa rice and so on.

Ingredients to make Mangalore spinach raw curry

  • Mangalore spinach 1 pack
  • Soaked horse gram 1 cup
  • water
  • salt to taste
  • jaggery gooseberry sized
  • For masala...
  • Grated coconut 1 cup
  • red chilli 3-4
  • coriander seeds 1/2 tbsp
  • jeera I tea spoon
  • turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • tamarind gooseberry sized
  • For seasoning..
  • red chilli 1
  • mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Cooking oil 2 tsp
  • curry leaves few

How to make Mangalore spinach raw curry

  1. Wash, chop mangalore spinach leaves.
  2. Chop the stems 2-3" long.
  3. Let's boil 1/2 ltr of water, cover and cook stems and horse gram until smooth.
  4. Stir in between.
  5. Add chopped leaves, Jaggery, Salt, allow it to boil.
  6. In the meantime grind masala ingredients by adding some water and grated coconut, into smooth paste.
  7. Transfer ground coconut into cooked spinach.
  8. Add sufficient water and check saltness.
  9. Allow it to boil finely in medium flame for 3-4 minutes.
  10. Do seasoning and add, cover the plate, serve in hot.

My Tip:

While cooking stems add a tsp of coconut oil to cook easily.
