Fish egg pakoda... (macher dimer boda) one of the most loved recipe at bengali homes. This is my first try on this recipe which holds loads of childhood memories. My mother used to make it. So when today i saw fiah eggs in market i got some home and called up my mom for recipe. Although added some of my variations for the final product

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Fish eggs 250 gms
  2. 1 large finely chopped onion
  3. 3 to 4 green chillies finely chopped
  4. 4 to 5 clove garlic finely chopped
  5. Coriander leaves 1 tbsp finely chopped
  6. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  7. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  8. Salt to taste
  9. 1 tsp garam masala
  10. 1/3 cup rice flour
  11. 1 cup besan
  12. a pinch baking powder
  13. 1 tbsp vinegar/curd (whichever available)


  1. Wash and clean the fish eggs.
  2. In a container keep fish eggs add a pinch turmeric powder and vinegar. Keep aside for 10 min.
  3. Put this container in presure cooker. Cook till one whistle. Remove and cool
  4. Transfer this into a bix mixing bowl. Add onion green chillies garlic coriander leaves, red chilli powder turmeric, garam masala, salt. Rice flour and besan. Add baking powder. Mix well. Keep it aside in fridge fr 20 min
  5. Heat oil in pan; wuth wet palm. Take a small portion of this mix.
  6. Fry on medium flame till crisp and golden
