ABOUT Palak ki daal RECIPE

It's an everyday dish in which palak or spinach is cooked with daal to give you a moderate but very nice taste. Along with the good taste, one gets alot of protein and iron as well.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1/2 cup urad daal
  2. 1- 1 and 1/2 cup palak or spinach
  3. Salt to taste
  4. 1 inch ginger
  5. 2 green chillies
  6. 3 cups water
  7. For tempering:
  8. 3 tsp oil or desi ghee
  9. 1/2 onion sliced
  10. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  11. A pinch of hing or asafoetida

Instructions

  1. Soak the daal in water for about 20 mins. Wash and chop the palak or spinach and keep aside.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add daal, chopped palak, salt, ginger, green chillies and water.
  3. Cook till 4-5 whistles blow or till the daal becomes tender.
  4. For tempering:
  5. Heat oil in a pan. Add sliced onions,when the onions are golden in colour, add the cumin seeds and heeng.
  6. Pour this tempering over the daal and enjoy your healthy meal with chapati or rice.
