Kolkata Mutton Curry

Ingredients to make Kolkata Mutton Curry

  • 500 gm Mutton
  • 4 big sized onions
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 3 green chillies
  • 3 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • salt to taste
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cardamoms
  • 2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • curd 100 gm
  • Raw papaya paste 2 tbsp

How to make Kolkata Mutton Curry

  1. TAKE A KADHAI. POUR IN THE OIL AND ADD THE BAY LEAF, CARDAMOM AND FRY 2 ONIONS. AFTER IT TURNS BROWN IN COLOUR, ADD THE CUMIN POWDER AND COOK IT FOR 2 MINS.
  2. IN A GRINDER, MAKE A PASTE WITH THE TOMATOES, GREEN CHILLIES AND 2 ONIONS.
  3. NOW POUR THIS MIXTURE INTO A KADHAI AND SAUTE IT NICELY.
  4. NOW ADD THE MARINATED MUTTON (FOR A MINIMUM 2 HOURS WITH CURD AND MEAT TENDERIZER). ADD THE KASHMIRI MIRCH POWDER, TURMERIC POWDER AND SALT.
  5. SLOW COOK IT BY ADDING A LITTLE WATER. CLOSE THE LID AND WAIT UNTIL IT IS COOKED COMPLETELY.

My Tip:

Slow cooking gives this dish a nice texture and super awesome taste.
