    Chocolate Mud Cake

    Ingredients to make Chocolate Mud Cake

    • 250g butter
    • 200g Dark Chocolate
    • 2 cups Caster sugar
    • 1 1/3 cup water
    • 1 1/2 cups flour
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 2 tsp baking powder
    • 1/4 tsp baking soda
    • 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
    • 3 eggs
    • 400g Dark chocolate chopped (for the ganache)
    • 1 cup cream
    • 30g chocolate sprinkles

    How to make Chocolate Mud Cake

    1. Preheat oven to 150 degrees celsius. Grease and flour a cake tin.
    2. Melt butter and chocolate in a saucepan.
    3. Add sugar and water, stir until sugar completely gets dissolved. Let it cool
    4. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and cocoa in a mixing bowl.
    5. Add the chocolate mixture and fold gently.
    6. Fold in the eggs and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into the cake tin and bake for 1 hour
    7. Let it cool completely and then cut in half.
    8. Add the chocolate for the ganache and cream to a saucepan and cook over medium heat.
    9. Blend well until mixture is smooth
    10. Refrigerate for 20-30 mins till thick.
    11. Spread a layer of the ganache on the bottom half of the cake. Top the upper half and spread another layer over.
    12. Top with chocolate sprinkles.
    13. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours and serve.

    My cake developed lots of cracks from top, especially in center. Not tiny cracks, but big ones, so much that it broke the cake. Any idea why that happened? I don't have a picture to share.
