This is a curry made with mutton, to be served with some rice or pulao on the side.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Mutton bone 1/2kg
  2. onion [chopped] - 2
  3. ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  4. Star anise - 2
  5. cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  6. cinnamon - 1
  7. Dry red chillies - 2
  8. curd - 1/2 cup
  9. cumin powder - 1 tsp
  10. chilly powder - 1 tsp
  11. coriander powder - 1 tsp
  12. salt
  13. To make the paste :
  14. cashew nuts - 10
  15. Poppy seeds - 1 tbsp
  16. coconut - 4 pieces
  17. Dry red chillies - 2
  18. coriander leaves [for garnishing]


  1. Heat a pressure cooker pan with some oil. Add the star anise, cumin seeds, cinnamon, dry red chillies.
  2. Once they splutter, add the chopped onion and saute for few minutes. Now add the ginger garlic paste and saute for few seconds.
  3. Marinate the mutton with curd and powdered spices, salt. Add the marinated mutton into the cooking onions.
  4. Mix and cook for few minutes. Then add water for the gravy.
  5. Let this simmer and then make a paste of the ingredients with some water. Add this paste into the mutton curry.
  6. Mix this and close the lid. cook for few whistles, until the mutton is cooked.
  7. Open the lid and check for seasoning and the garnish with coriander leaves. serve hot.
