This yummy Aam ka murabba is a Rajasthani dish. Rajasthani cuisine is influenced by both the war-like lifestyles of its inhabitants and the availability of ingredients in this region. Food that could last for several days and could be eaten without heating was preferred by Rajasthani people. Mango Murabba is a tangy, sweet and aromatic raw mango jam. Aam ka murabba recipe is prepared by a special type of mangoes named 'Totapuri'. This dish is popularly made in the households of every region of India. It is a dish which came to us from our foremothers. Mango Murabba is eaten as a side dish to the main meal. You can serve this with rice or roti or any other meal. It is easy to prepare this at your home. Ingredients used for Aam ka murabba are mango, sugar, saffron, cardamom powder, salt and water. Try to keep this mango murabba in a clean sterilized glass jar or bottle, so that it will stay good for more than 3 months in the fridge and about 15-20 days at the room temperature.

Ingredients to make Aam ka murabba

  • 1/2 kg - raw mango
  • 1/2 kg - sugar
  • Few strands of saffron
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom pwd
  • Pinch of salt
  • 200 ml - water

How to make Aam ka murabba

  1. Peel off the skin of raw mangoes and cut it into small dices.
  2. In a pan add the diced mangoes, sugar and water and let it cook for 15-20 minutes on low flame.
  3. Stir continuously - Add strands of saffron, cardamom seeds and salt.
  4. Refrigerate it overnight - Transfer it to a jar and murabba is ready!

My Tip:

We can store it in the fridge for 3 to 4 months.
