ABOUT Lau Chingri RECIPE

The famous typical bengali delicious dish, with combo of prawn and gourd.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Small size chopped gourd
  2. 200 gm prawn
  3. Cumin seeds 1/2 tsp
  4. 1 Chopped onion
  5. 2 Green chillies
  6. 2 tsp turmeric powder
  7. 2 tsp cumin powder
  8. 2 tsp corriander powder
  9. 1 tsp red chilly powder
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Sugar 3 tsp
  12. Ginger paste 2 tsp
  13. 1 cup soybean oil
  14. 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Wash the small prawn, Sprinkle 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp turmeric powder,kept aside for 10 mins.
  2. In a pressure cooker we have to boil the sliced gourds.
  3. Heat soyabean oil in a pan.Fry the prawn until brown.
  4. Keep cumin seeds to splutter to the same oil,add chopped onion, Sprinkle 1 pinch of salt and 1 tsp sugar,fry until it turns into brown.
  5. Next add 2 green chillies,2 tsp cumin powder, 2 tsp ginger paste,2 tsp corriander powder,1 tsp red chilly powder, 2 tsp sugar, salt to taste. Also add water.
  6. Then add boiled gourd and mix well with the masala.
  7. Now add fried small prawn and mix well,Pour 1/2 cup of water on it. Cover the lid,and boil in low flame for 10 mins.
  8. It is ready for serve with steamed rice.
