Stir fry Chemmeen

Ingredients to make Stir fry Chemmeen

  • Prawn - 250 gms
  • coconut Oil - 2 tbsp
  • curry leaves - Few
  • To Grind onions - 5-6 small
  • cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
  • red chilli Powder - 2 tps
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Fresly Crushed pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • ginger-1"
  • garlic 6-7
  • lime Juice 1 tsp
  • salt - to taste
  • water if required to make a paste
  • Kashmiri chilli powder optional 1 tsp

How to make Stir fry Chemmeen

  1. Grind onion,ginger & garlic adding Red chilli & Kashmiri chilli powder,turmeric powder,cumin seeds , curry leaves & black pepper to make a smooth paste . In a bowl take clean & washed prawns seasoned with salt ,lime juice & ground paste
  2. Combine all ingredients & marinate prawns for 15-20 min .Heat Coconut oil in a pan and roast marinated prawns in a low-medium heat until its golden brown in colour, remove prawns from pan & add leftover marination in a pan & saute.
  3. Once masala gives a nice aroma add cooked prawns & mix gently in that prawns coated evenly.Chemmeen Fry is ready to Serve !!

My Tip:

Always cook prawns on low- medium heat.Kashmiri chilli powder gives good red colour to dish.Coconut oil gives an authentic taste.

Hi..can I cook this dish in any other oil? I don't like the taste of coconut oil.
