Ghiya Chana dal Sabzi

Ingredients to make Ghiya Chana dal Sabzi

  • Ghiya 1/2 kg
  • chana dal 1 cup
  • 2 mediun size onions
  • ginger Garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • jeera, sabut 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • jeera powder 1 tsp
  • Dhaniya powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • water as per choice
  • oil for cooking

How to make Ghiya Chana dal Sabzi

  1. Wash and soak the chana dal while preparing the ingredients.
  2. Wash and peel the Ghiya. Cut into small cubes. Chop the onions. Keep aside.
  3. In a pressure cooker, add 2 tbsp oil. Let it heat up and add jeera. Let it crackle, add onions and cook it for two minutes and then add ginger garlic paste. Cook till the raw smell goes away.
  4. Add soaked chana daal and cook for 5 minutes, add ghiya and mix well. Cook for 2 more minutes.
  5. Make a paste of all the powdered spices and salt by adding a little water. Add this masala paste into the cooking dish.
  6. Cook till the masala starts leaving the oil. Add 2 cups of water and cover with lid. Lower the flame and wait for six whistles. After the whistles let it rest for 5 minutes and then open to serve hot.

My Tip:

Pressure cook on a low flame.
